Please be aware that there is no extension to pay taxes due on April 15 of each year. To be considered paid on time, taxes must be paid by the tax filing deadline. Filing an extension for your tax return does not extend the time to meet and pay your tax liability. If you have tax liability after the April 15th due date, additional late-payment penalties and interest will apply.
Keep in mind that the IRS will rarely initiate contact through telephone calls, emails, or by visiting your residence. They typically communicate by phone or in person only after a taxpayer has received multiple written notices. The IRS will never ask for payment of a tax liability using prepaid cards of any kind. Do not share any personal or confidential information over the phone or via email. If you are unsure, please contact us.
